SC BlueCross Foundation Presents $50,000 Grant to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire
Bluffton, S.C. – The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation has presented a $50,000 check to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire.
“The grant was provided to support the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Dental program,” said Harvey Galloway, the foundation’s executive director. “The Care Mobile serves public elementary schools, some preschools, and children of migrant workers throughout Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties.”
Galloway said today’s event was part of a series the foundation is hosting around the state to present its grants and honor the recipients in front of community and business leaders. Since the foundation was established in 2003, it has allocated more than $41 million in South Carolina to address issues such as childhood health, community health, mental health, obesity, diabetes, nursing and health research, and the increasing need for free medical clinics.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire is honored to be chosen as a recipient of grant funding to support our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program,” said Nikole Gore Layton, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. “Our Care Mobile program impacts more than 1,600 underserved children each year by providing vital dental services and unmet dental needs. This grant will support our ongoing efforts tremendously. We are humbled and grateful to the foundation for its support of our mission.”
